CaaS- Communications as a Service

Considered an enterprise communication type solution that is outsourced, Communications as a Service or CaaS may be used under lease from one individual vendor.

This type communication can be comprised of VoIP or voice over Internet protocol, IM (instant messaging), collaborative situations and video conferencing related apps incorporating mobile and fixed type devices. Much in the same way SaaS or Software as a Service has developed, CaaS has followed a similar route.

Vendors working with CaaS have a responsibility for all hardware and software related management and can provide a high Quality of Service (QOS).

Businesses can use CaaS to target deployment of communications modes and devices via an “as-needed” basis (pay-as-you-go). This reduces the need for large capital investment and continuing overhead for any system where capacity could be insufficient or excessive with regard to existing demand.

Scalability and expandability is available with CaaS where small-sized or medium-sized businesses would normally not be able to afford it. On demand addition of coverage, modes or devices is also possible.

Feature sets and the capacity of a network can be modified daily as needed allowing functionality to keep up with demand while keeping wasted resources to a minimum. Obsolescence, replacement or large routine upgrades are not an issue.
